CABINET SECRETARY FOR ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND FORESTRY, DR. DEBORAH M. BARASSA MAKES HER MAIDEN VISIT TO NETFUND OFFICES
21st May 2025:Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Dr. Deborah Barassa conducted a maiden visit to the NETFUND offices. During her visit, she emphasized the critical need for fostering strategic partnerships with development partners, the private sector, and other key stakeholders to bolster NETFUND’s role in resource mobilization for the environment sector.
Dr. Barasa was warmly welcomed by NETFUND Board Chairperson Hon. David Mwaure and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Samson Toniok. She commended NETFUND for its ongoing efforts in resource mobilization and its significant achievements, noting its pivotal role in advancing both global and national environmental commitments. Accompanied by Dr. Eng. Festus Ng’eno, Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change, the CS stressed the need for developing bankable programs that align with government priorities, address community needs, and create green jobs for millions ofKenyans, particularly those in vulnerable positions. These initiatives are essential to the BETA plan and Vision 2030.
In her address, the CS also highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law, ethical standards, and principles of good governance. She urged NETFUND staff to maintain high levels of professionalism and pledged to support a conducive working environment for all Ministry and agency employees. She emphasized that a motivated workforce is crucial for the success of the government’s ambitious environmental conservation goals.
