NETFUND has received funding of 120,000 Euros (Kshs. 15,864,000 million) from the BRIDGE Innovation Fund, that is administered by the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC) and Consortium of African Funds for the Environment (CAFÉ) and funded by the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) and the MAVA Foundation, to set up a Green Enterprise Financing Mechanism in Kenya.
This mechanism will catalyze Kenya’s private sector investment in biodiversity conservation and support of green business. The funds received will be used to set the mechanism and mobilize further funding from the private sector to embrace sustainable financing model that targets to support the bottom of the pyramid groups including conservancies, women, youth, vulnerable and marginalized groups to access funding and technical assistance.
To effectively implement the project, NETFUND will partner with local state and non-state-actors to design, develop and operationalize this mechanism for sustainable financing of biodiversity conservation in Kenya.
