NETFUND mobilizes resources from the government, multilaterals, bilateral, foundations, corporate bodies, individuals and other organizations to support and promote sustainable management of the environment in Kenya.
NETFUND’s mission and strategic goal is delivered through a range of services and programmes. Our service provision to Kenyans is guided by a service charter, which outlines our commitments and promise to our customers.

NETFUND hosts the Green Innovations Award (NETFUND GIA) which identifies, recognizes, rewards and nurtures innovative projects and ideas in environmental management. The award comes with grants for wining initiatives. Initiatives with a strong business potential are selected to enter into the NETFUND Green Incubation program where the incubates are trained in various aspects of business management.
Further, viable green enterprises are linked to investors and potential partners to facilitate growth opportunities for green enterprises in the country.

Capacity building towards sustainable environmental management is a cross cutting theme in all our programs. To bridge the Country’s climate change funding needs, NETFUND builds the capacity of national and sub-national government agencies as well as community-based environment actors on accessing climate financing and developing a sustainable financing programme.
In addition, we enhance the capacity of grass root institutions consisting farmers, community forest associations and organized community groups in various parts of the country. This is in addition to beneficiary green enterprises under our Green Innovations Award Programme that are offered technical and business support services.

In line with the mandate of facilitating research to enhance environmental management in Kenya, we sponsor and undertake research around key environmental issues in the country. Central to our research goal is the application of research findings to formulate innovative projects that support sustainable environmental management while alleviating poverty and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Through our research projects, we also generate a critical body of knowledge to guide key environmental sustainability actions in the country and region. Such areas include; potential of green energy solutions, modalities and best practices in controlling urban air pollution, environmental management in the context of devolution.

NETFUND mobilize resources to promote the restoration of threatened and degraded forest ecosystems in the country. Central to our ecosystem restoration approach is promotion of community-led forest conservation aimed at increasing the country’s forest cover whilst improving the livelihoods of poor communities.

We are mandated to give scholarships and grants to enhance knowledge within the environmental field. This programme will be launched to support students pursuing masters and PhD programmes that align to NETFUND thematic areas for Agribusiness, Energy and water and Resource Based Waste Management.

NETFUND Training Programme
NETFUND’s offers paid-up training programmes in strategic resource mobilization and project development. The quarterly training program run by the Fund’s business development department has been designed to address the glaring skills deficit in the area of developing winning proposals among professionals in the country, while at the same time raising resources for environmental protection.
