This project was implemented in 2011/2012 financial year as the inaugural award scheme with full support from the Government of Kenya. Emphasis in this project was on identifying and supporting unique innovations, groundbreaking research, ideas and extraordinary grassroots initiatives, carried out by individuals, groups or corporate entities. A total of 12 winners were awarded prizes for exemplary contributions for environmental management and conservation.
The total project cost was KES 40 million.
