The Board of Trustees tour key projects executed by the Fund
NETFUND Board Chair, Hon. David Mwaure Waihiga, has led the Board OF Trustees on a comprehensive field visit to various projects supported by the Fund including the hugely successful Magiro Hydroelectricity project in Murang’a. This project stands as the most successful innovative green energy solutions driving local development and economic empowerment. By harnessing the power of hydroelectricity, Magiro is not only providing clean and renewable energy but also contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
In addition to Magiro, the Board also visited several other impactful projects, including the Kakamega Fencing project and the Muliro Farmers Conservation Group project in Kakamega. These initiatives, supported by NETFUND, exemplify the Fund’s holistic approach to environmental conservation, addressing a diverse range of issues from renewable energy to biodiversity conservation and sustainable agriculture.
NETFUND’s support for these green initiatives is part of a broader strategy to enable communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change and advance Kenya’s green economy. Through targeted investments and strategic partnerships, NETFUND is empowering local stakeholders to embrace environmentally friendly practices while promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
Across the country, NETFUND has been instrumental in supporting a wide array of green projects aimed at enhancing community resilience and promoting environmental stewardship. From afforestation programs to waste management initiatives, NETFUND’s impact aims at driving positive change and inspiring sustainable solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
The field visit underscores the dedication and commitment of the Board to ensuring that the Fund’s activities are as responsive and impactful to the needs of Kenyans, particularly, at the bottom of the pyramid.
